    Founder & Chair

    A board-certified ophthalmologist who is fellowship-trained in cornea, glaucoma, and refractive surgery, Dr. Berdahl specializes in treating anterior segment conditions with innovative solutions. He co-invented the MKO melt (IV-free sedation for cataract surgery without opioids) and co-founded astigmatismfix.com (a tool that assists cataract surgeons in eliminating residual astigmatism), as well as ExpertOpinion.MD for patients to request medical opinions from world experts, and a rare-disease drug company.

  • Stuart Raetzman

    Executive Chairman

    Raetzman has extensive leadership experience across multiple healthcare categories, having served in senior executive positions for Nestlé Skin Health, Galderma, and Alcon. He lived in the US and in Europe while leading global businesses, and has more than 20 years of specialized eyecare leadership experience. Raetzman has also served as a Board Member at TearClear, an ophthalmic pharmaceutical company specializing in preservative-free therapies

  • Phil Phillips

    Board Member

    As the President of Phillips Consulting Group, LLC, Mr. Phillips brings more than 3 decades of experience in FDA regulation of medical devices. His extensive knowledge of regulatory matters includes FDA jurisdiction, device classification, clinical trials, and product labeling. His previous roles include the Office of Device Evaluation’s Deputy Director for Science and Regulatory Policy for 12 years and the Chief of the Surgical and Diagnostics Devices Branch in DOD.

  • Alison “Ali” Bauerlein

    Board Member

    Currently serving as CFO of Sight Sciences®, a medical device company specializing in eye diseases, Bauerlein has extensive experience in strategic healthcare business development, from start-ups to public companies. She co-founded Inogen, a leading global medical technology company, and has served as Board Member for multiple therapeutics companies, as well as Koya Medical, a private healthcare company focused on breakthrough treatments for venous and lymphatic diseases.

  • Matt Larson

    Board Member

    Matt Larson has over a decade of experience in the ophthalmic sector with roles on the clinical research side as well as several positions with a commercial focus. Larson has been involved in multiple aspects of medical device companies. He was responsible for launching the KAMRA corneal inlay in the Asian Pacific and played an executive role in acquiring US approval, making KARMA the first US-approved corneal inlay for presbyopia. Larson also led the launch of the IC-8 intraocular lens in Europe and the Asian Pacific.

    Chief Executive Officer

    Jensen is a market leader in delivering operational excellence and driving profitable growth. In his previous role as Chief Executive Officer of TearLab, he led the company through a complete corporate and commercial restructure, cutting costs over 40% and growing the customer base by more than 25% before successfully completing the organization’s acquisition, privatization, and recapitalization. As CEO of Balance Ophthalmics, Jensen brings his 25+ years of experience across multiple boards and C-suite positions in launching disruptive technology and managing scale against growth and profit objectives.
